Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about our virtual numbers, activation, forwarding, billing and refunds.

General

What is a virtual phone number?

A virtual phone number is a real number that anyone can dial, but it is not tied to a particular SIM card, handset or building. Calls and messages are delivered to the destination you choose, such as your mobile, a landline, a SIP app or your email. Learn how it works.

Is a virtual number the same as a VoIP number?

Not exactly. VoIP refers to the technology that carries a call over the internet, while “virtual” means the number is not tied to a physical line. If a service rejects VoIP numbers, a non-VoIP number on a real SIM card is the right choice.

Do I need an internet connection to use a virtual number?

Only if calls are delivered to an app. If you forward the number to a regular mobile or landline, calls arrive over the normal phone network and no internet connection is needed on your side.

Will callers know that it is a virtual number?

No. It looks and behaves like any other number in that country, and callers pay their usual rate to dial it.

Can I keep my number if I move to another country?

Yes. The number belongs to your account, not to your location. You simply update the destination it forwards to.

Numbers and activation

How long does it take to activate a number?

Activation time depends on the country and number type. It typically takes 1 to 5 business days, and up to 15 days where document verification is required.

Which documents do I need?

Some countries require proof of identity or of the address of the business or its representative before a number can be activated. The requirements are shown before you order, and our team will tell you how to submit any documents.

Can I choose a specific number?

Numbers are assigned from our available inventory, so a specific number cannot be guaranteed.

Can my number receive several calls at the same time?

A standard number handles one call at a time. If you expect calls to overlap, choose a multichannel number, which accepts several calls simultaneously.

Can I get numbers in more than one country?

Yes. You can hold as many numbers as you need from different countries and cities under one account and manage them from a single dashboard. See our prices for available countries.

Can I call emergency services with a virtual number?

No. Our services do not provide access to emergency numbers such as 112 or 911.

Calls and SMS

Where can I forward my calls?

To a mobile, a landline, a SIP account or an office phone system. Forwarding to SIP is free; the cost of forwarding to a phone number is shown before you order. You can also set up rules and an IVR menu.

Can I receive SMS by email?

Yes. With SMS forwarding, messages can be delivered to your email or to another phone number.

Can I make outgoing calls?

Yes, by activating a SIP account on your number, subject to approval. Outgoing calls are charged separately from the number rental, and caller ID availability depends on the destination country.

Who pays for calls to a toll-free number?

The number owner. Incoming calls to a toll-free number are charged to the account holder per minute, so callers can reach you at no cost.

Will a registration number work with every service?

Numbers designated “for registration” accept messages from most online platforms, but delivery from every individual service cannot be guaranteed.

Billing and refunds

Which payment methods do you accept?

Bank cards, PayPal for companies, invoices in USD and EUR, cryptocurrencies such as BTC and USDT, and many local payment methods. See the full list on our Payment Methods page.

How does billing work?

Services are prepaid. Monthly fees are deducted automatically from your account balance, and services are suspended if the balance becomes negative until it is topped up.

How do I cancel a number?

Delete the number from your account before the start of the next billing period to avoid further charges.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are available in specific cases, for example if a number has been out of service for more than 24 hours or cannot be provided. Full details are in our Refund Policy.

What happens if a disposable number does not receive the SMS?

If no SMS is received, the amount is refunded to your account balance automatically within 15 to 20 minutes.
